Your Policing

What is Your Policing?

"Your Policing" is a joint publication produced by Cheshire Constabulary and Cheshire Police Authority.

The publications show what objectives the Authority has set the Chief Constable for the coming year, and what work has been done to achieve last year’s objectives.

There is also information on how we are improving our service to you, and how you can get involved.

2011/12 edition

The 2011/12 edition of "Your Policing" will be delivered to all households in Cheshire - they are also available to download on the right hand side of this page.

It is our job to hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the people of Cheshire and we make sure that the Constabulary is performing well. We feel it is important that we let you know what has been happening.

That is why we produce 'Your Policing'. The publication lets you know how we are spending the money provided through your council tax and how we are making the savings required due to the Coalition Government's cuts in police funding. As you will see, despite making significant savings already, crime has continued to fall in Cheshire the Constabulary Constabulary continues to work hard to keep people safe.

- Margaret Ollerenshaw, Chairman of the Authority

All this information has been squeezed into just eight pages to keep printing and distribution costs as low as possible. The magazine costs less than 11p per copy to produce and send out.

Your policing priorities

Each year we ask Cheshire residents about their policing priorities. Over 2,000 people gave us their views

We used these results along with other consultation that we have done throughout the year, the targets set by Government and issues raised with local officers to inform the Chief Constable’s objectives for the year which are to:-

  1. Respond as an emergency service and improve the way we protect and care for individuals and the public
  2. Understand and strive to meet the expectations of the people of Cheshire
  3. Maintain the trust and confidence of the public
  4. Work with the public and our partners to reduce those crimes and acts of anti-social behaviour which the public are concerned about
  5. Continue to increase the level of positive outcomes, provide the best care for victims and witnesses and reduce re-offending
  6. Improve the use of resources and prevent waste and duplication
