Our Twitter accounts

Cheshire Police have a forcewide account on twitter (@cheshirepolice).

Whenever we create a new account on the site we will advertise it on this site so you know that it is an officially endorsed account.

@cheshirepolice

This account is managed and maintained by the Corporate Communications team, on behalf of the organisation.

If you follow this account you should expect between 2 and 10 tweets a day covering the following:

  • Alerts about incidents such as road closures
  • Alerts about new content such as videos on our YouTube page or images on our Flickr page
  • Appeals for information
  • News
  • Retweets/links from other public sector / community organisations and individuals

Our Twitter policy

Following/Friends

If you follow us on Twitter or become our friend on Facebook we will not automatically follow you back. This is to discourage the use of direct messaging. Being followed by us does not imply endorsement of any kind.

Hashtags (#)

We will occasionally use hashtags (#) in our tweets. Using hashtags enables tweets on a specific subject to be found by simply searching for their common hashtag. We use hashtags such as #caughtoncamera when we have an appeal for information which has CCTV footage of a suspect, this hashtag is also used by other police forces and means that CCTV appeals are grouped together.

We are not responsible for the hashtag or tweets from other users who use the hashtag. We do not endorse other users who use the hashtag and we are not responsible for the content that they write.

Availability

We will update and monitor our Twitter account as often as we can. The site may occasionally be unavailable and we accept no responsibility for lack of service due to their downtime.

@Replies and Direct Messages

We welcome feedback and ideas from all our followers. However, we are not always able to reply individually to the messages we receive via the sites.

We read all @replies and Direct Messages and ensure that any emerging themes or helpful suggestions are passed to the relevant people.

The usual ways of contacting us for official correspondence are detailed in the contact us section of our website.

Please DO NOT contact us through Twitter in an emergency. In an emergency always ring 999 or 0845 458 0000 if it's less urgent.
