The Evidence Gathering Team is made up of Tactical Support
officers who are trained in the use of video recording equipment.
An example of work they do is attending at football matches, where
they will work alongside a spotter to identify and film potential
troublemakers.
The spotter is an officer with local knowledge – if Crewe
Alexandra are playing Leeds United, the spotter will be from
WestYorkshire Police. The evidence gathering officer is in uniform
and highly visible as he films. They are also used to record
evidence at crime scenes, working alongside Crime Scene
Investigators to produce a video record of any incidents.
