Secured by Design is a police initiative which
accredits products and designs that have been
tested and proven to reduce
burglary and other crime.
It aims to create safe, secure places in which people can live
and work, by putting crime prevention at the forefront of the
design, layout and construction stages of homes, commercial
premises and car parks.
The brand offers a licensing scheme for products that meet
police preferred specifications and an award for developers who
build to Secured by Design standards.
The licensing scheme currently includes more than 350 member
companies who are entitled to use the Secured by Design logo and
promote the term 'Police Preferred Specification' on products which
have passed the tests specified by
ACPO
Secured by
Design.
Secured By Design is owned by the Association of Chief Police
Officers (
ACPO
) and was
established in 1989.
