Request
I would like to request a figure for the number of Penalty
Notices for Disorder issued in the period April 2007 - March 2008,
or if possible the most up to date information available.
Clarified by phone 17/12/2008 to read Chester and Ellesmere
Port area.
Also, I would like to request the number of summonses to Chester
and Ellesmere Port courts in the same period.
Response
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is
provided below;
The offence location for PNDs is 'free text' so our database
only holds what the officer has put on the ticket. Therefore, it is
impossible to get an exact figure for a geographical area. Even if
we searched each individual notice, you would then have to have
knowledge of an area. For example the officer may have written
Shoplifting - Marks and Spencer, Gemini Retail Park or Drunk and
Disorderly - The Dog and Gun, High Street.
Therefore the attached data is the best we can supply. The
search parameters that have been used to extract the data includes
any notice where the offence address/location includes the word
'Chester' or 'Ellesmere Port'. If the officer has just put a
district for the location such as Lache rather than Lache, Chester
the data will not be captured in these figures.
Therefore, the number of PNDs issued for Chester and Ellesmere
Port between 01/04/07 and 31/03/08 was approx 384.
This figure should be used only as a guide and not quoted as
definitive statistics.
In relation to the second part of your question, the number of
summonses issued is 307.
