Bonus Reward System

Request

  1. Does your force operate a bonus or rewards system for employees? Can you outline this, for example what the various payments are and what they might be paid for?
  2. For the following questions can you supply figures for the calendar years of 2007 and 2008. If it is not possible to give figures for calendar years, please supply figures for the past two 12 month periods for which you hold records.
  3. How many bonuses were issued in each of the categories used by your force? For example some forces might pay £50 for fingerprinting dead bodies.
  4. What amount (in sterling) did these bonuses equal?
  5. Who received bonuses and what were they awarded for? (if the data protection act permits you from naming individuals , please give ranks)

Police Officer terms and conditions are regulated by the Police (Amendment) Regulations and Determinations 2003 (Amended 2004) particularly Part 4, which refers to pay and Part 6, which relates to Allowances and Expenses, and the Police Amendment Regulations 2007. In addition we have provided some further information relating to Question 1 on the attached Excel sheet along with our response to your remaining questions. In respect of SPP payments some of which have yet to be input onto the Police Personnel system for 2008. This is currently being worked on, therefore the SPP information in the attached Excel sheet for 2008 is incomplete and not an accurate figure for the year.
