Request
I understand that under the Freedom of Information Act
statistics will be available showing the number of cautions/fines
issued in Sandbach for illegal parking.
In particular I would like to know how many parking offences
have been recorded in Bradwall Road during the past year.
Response
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is
provided below;
For the period 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009 we have
processed 133 parking related FPN's in the 'Sandbach' area of which
2 were in Bradwall Road.
It should be noted that the offence location is 'freetext'
within our system. We have only been able to extract data if the
word Sandbach was in the offence location field.
Cautions: Cautions for parking offences are only verbal by the
officer at the time. The officer may record them in his/her pocket
notebook. More often than not they would not be recorded at all. To
search each officers pocket note books would, it is estimated,
exceed the appropriate limit. The appropriate limit is defined in
the Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Fees and
Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004, which is covered by statutory
Instrument Number 3244 of 2004. Furthermore, Section 12 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 allows a public authority to refuse
to respond to a request for information where the cost of
compliance would exceed the appropriate limit as defined by the
above mentioned regulations.
