Translation Costs 2006/07 - 2008/09

1. How much money was spent by your organisation on the provision of all translation into languages other than English - including translating and publishing documents, as well as interpreting services, in the financial years 2003/4, 2006/07 and 2008/09?
2. Did you engage with other authorities to share resources concerning the translation of documents in the financial year 2008/09?
3. For translated documents made available on line during the financial year 2008/09, could you please provide a breakdown of how many times these were accessed?
4. What languages in 2008/2009 were translated? Can you please submit this list in descending order from the most translated language down to the least.

To make this easier, I would be happy if the information concerning 03/04 were left out. I'm also happy if question 3, concerning web documents, is left out altogether.

In accordance with section 1 (1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

2003/04 - Was withdrawn as from 20/05/2009

2006/07 - Translation services for this period requested were under a PFI contract between Cheshire Police Authority and GSL and a full explanation of this is reasonably accessible to you by other means therefore is exempt under Section 21 of the FOI Act.

Previous disclosure (29th May 2008)

Translation services for the period requested were provided under a PFI contract between the Cheshire Police Authority (CPA) and GSL. The contract was primarily for the provision of custody services. CPA paid an contract fee for all services of which £28k in total was for all interpreting and translation services 2006/7. What GSL paid to the providers of such services is not information that CPA hold. Therefore we cannot provide the breakdown you requested as we do not hold that information.
