Request
I am requiring information in relation to a case of alleged
Fraud going back to 2007/2008.
I believe the case was not allowed to be pursued to its correct
conclusion due to the alleged victim being implicated as an
accomplice.
Please can you inform me as to the Officers Name or Number which
was involved in the case.
How the case was concluded, was it investigated to the full or
did the alleged victim decide not to pursue, and reasons why this
was allowed to happen.
I am the son of the victim and wish to find out if justice has
been served or there was more to this situation that has been
covered up before the case reached its natural conclusion.
Response
In accordance with the Act our response is as follows:
The Cheshire Constabulary can neither confirm nor deny that it
holds the information you have requested. To give a statement of
the reasons why neither confirming nor denying is appropriate in
this case would itself involve disclosure of exempt information,
therefore under section 17 (4), no explanation can be given, To the
extent that section 40 (5) applies, the Cheshire Constabulary has
determined that in all the circumstances of the case the public
interest in maintaining the exclusion of the duty to neither
confirm nor deny outweighs the public interest in confirming
whether or not information is held.
