Request

I am currently in the process of pulling together a performance monitoring tool, and would like to look at a number of crime statistics for Halton which we consider to fall under our world class commissioning competencies.

Would it be possible to provide me with figures for all crimes; violence; and ASB.  For the dates 2008/09 by Quarter and 2009/10 YTD by quarter

With regards to the request below, if possible I would like this information on a quarterly basis? Is there any way this can be sent out on this basis, or will I be required to submit a request every quarter?

Response

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

The information you are seeking is reasonably accessible to you by other means and is therefore exempt information in accordance with section 21 of the Act.

Please see our web site where you will find published crime statistics.

Website Crime Stats

The figures available are annual crime figures for 2007/2008. The figures for 2008/2009 will be published at the end of this month and are therefore exempt by virtue of Section 22 of the Act, information intended for future publication.
The figures for 2009/2010 are not held. (Those figures simply do not yet exist.)

We do not currently publish quarterly crime figures however we do report monthly figures (for the Home Office) but these are cumulative and not true month on month figures and they relate to the whole of the Cheshire Police area. In so far as figures Anti Social Behaviour are concerned you must appreciate that there is no one single criminal offence classed as anti social behaviour. ASB orders are in the main civil orders that can be applied for by different organisations such as housing authorities and not just the police. The behaviour involved may not even amount to 'criminal' behaviour but actions that are unacceptable to society, for example dog fouling.
