Request

  1. How many of your officers have the full time role as a due diligence officer responsible for investigating stolen art and antiquities and liaising with other forces.
  2. How many of your officers have this role but carry it out on a part time basis sharing it with other responsibilities.
  3. How many full time due diligence officers you have had in each of the last five years.
  4. How many part time due diligence officers you have had in each of the last five years.
  5. Any records you have showing the activities of your due diligence officer(s) in terms of the number of requests for assistance or investigation from civilian individuals or groups or law enforcement agencies
  6. What happened to these requests: the number referred to other forces for investigation; number dropped for whatever reason; the number which led to a warning; the number which resulted in the seizure or return of items; the number of cases taken to the CPS for prosecution, number taken to court, number convicted. If possible I would like this information for each of the last five years.

Due diligence officers responsible solely for investigating stolen art and antiques are no longer in existence within police forces. Stolen art and antiques is dealt with by all investigators on a case by case basis.
