Request
a) The number of arrests made on suspicion of selling
smuggled or illicit cigarettes and tobacco, with the figures broken
down into annual totals.
b) The number of convictions relating to the above, with the
figures broken down into annual totals.
c) The annual budget for policing the sale of smuggled or illicit
cigarettes and tobacco, with the budget broken down into annual
figures.
For all the above requests, please provide annual data from January
2001 to December 2009 inclusive. If this is likely to go over the
cost limit then please gather the statistics from the longest time
period possible.

In accordance with section 1 (1) (b) of the Act our

In relation to point c) we do not have a specified
budget for smuggled or illicit cigarettes and tobacco. However, you
