I would like information on police responses in regard
to the The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which have occurred in
the Ellesmere Port Neston area in the last two years

Dear Cheshire Police Authority,
I am interested in police responses in regard to birds protected
under Schedules 1 and 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act
1981
Response
The schedules mentioned refer to:
Schedule 1 Birds protected
Schedule 9 Animals & Plants - Introduction of new
species etc
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our
response is provided below;
There were six related incidents reported to Cheshire
Police during the past two years for Ellesmere Port and Neston
areas as follows:
1. 22nd April, 2008 at Ellesmere Port. Youths firing
stones at ducks from catapults. Advice given by call management. No
police attendance required.
2. 16th December 2008 at Ellesmere Port. Two men
reported for summons for keeping a wild Goshawk without a
registration certificate.
3. 14th May, 2009 at Ellesmere Port. Report of a bush
being cut down with a birds nest in it. Advice given by call
management. No police attendance required.
4. 27th May, 2009 at, Neston. Maintenance workers
disturbing nesting birds. Prompt response.
5. 28th August, 2009 at Ellesmere Port. Report of air
gun pellet tins found close to nesting Sparrowhawks on the
allotments. Deferred to NPT for information and attention.
6. 23rd October, 2010 at Parkgate Complaint of
potential barn owl disturbance. Matter resolved with developer. No
disturbance.
