Request

1. In each of the last five years (January - December) how many of your serving Police Officers and PCSOs have been convicted of a criminal offence? Please supply figures for each year in the distinct categories of Police Officer and PCSO.

2. Please specify the type of offence the conviction resulted from using the categories outlined in the Home Office's National Standard for Incident Recording.

3. In each of the last five years (January - December) how many people recruited as Police Officers or PCSOs have been recruited with a criminal conviction, spent or otherwise? Please supply figures for each year in the distinct categories of Police Officer and PCSO.

Question 3

In respect of Question 3. We are unable to provide this information within the cost limits of FOI. There are approximately 700 paper based files concerning recruits over the time period specified. To search and extract any relevant data will it is estimated exceed the appropriate limit. (Approximately 116 hours for one person).

The appropriate limit is defined in the Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004, which is covered by statutory Instrument Number 3244 of 2004. Furthermore, Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 allows a public authority to refuse to respond to a request for information where the cost of compliance would exceed the appropriate limit as defined by the above mentioned regulations.
