Request

To the freedom of information officer, I would like answers to the following questions please.

  1. The number of weapons handed into Cheshire Police in 2009 and 2010, whether as part of amnesties or just in general.
  2. Break down of what the weapons were, knives, guns, etc... as specific as possible.
  3. Where and when the weapons were handed in?

Response

In accordance with section 1 (1) (a) of the Act our response is provided below;

From our preliminary assessment, we estimate that compliance with your request would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000. This is currently £450

The property system is a paper based system which is run from 8 property offices within the Constabulary. In any one year there will be approximately 2500 separate entries in the property registers in each property office, over 19,000 records. Clearly to compile the data requested would take a large amount of man hours well in excess of the FOI limits. Unfortunately I cannot offer a solution to bring your request within the cost limits.
