Discrimination against staff or ex staff

Request

Under the Freedom of Information Act, please could you provide me with the following information:

  1. the numbers of discrimination cases taken against your police force by staff or ex-staff between June 1 2008 and June 1 2010.
  2. for each case, please name the nature of the discrimination alleged (race, gender, sexuality, disability, age, faith) and the outcome of the case - settled before tribunal, lost / won at tribunal by your force etc.
  3. please also provide me with the number of cases in which financial payments were made to claimants as well as the total aggregated amount of money paid to claimants.
  4. In addition, please could you indicate the number of cases in which the force paid towards the claimants' legal costs, and the total aggregated amount involved.
  5. finally, please provide me with the largest single financial settlement paid out by your force, whether it included paying the claimant's legal costs and what this sum was too.
  6. Please include cases where a non-disclosure clause has been signed to protect the identity of the individual concerned.

Response

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

6 employment tribunal claims were received between 1 June 2008 and 1 June 2010

1 Age discrimination - no payment

2. sex discrimination, victimisation - no payment

3 sex discrimination - claim ongoing

4 Disability discrimination claim - no payment

5 Disability discrimination claim - ongoing claim

6 Breach of contract - no payment

As no payments were made during this period the remaining questions are not applicable.
