Officers Drug Testing

Request

  1. How many police officers have been tested for drugs in your force between 30 Sept 2008 to 30 Sept 2009, and also between 30 Sept 2009 to 30 Sept 2010?
  2. How many police officers’ tests have proven positive for drugs between 30 Sept 2008 to 30 Sept 2009, and also between 30 Sept 2009 to 30 Sept 2010?
  3. For any police officers whose tests did prove positive for drugs please can you state exactly which drug they tested positive for?
  4. Please can you outline your force’s policy on testing police officers for drugs? For example, whether officers are randomly tested, whether all new recruits are tested, any other specific reasons why the force might ask an officer to take a drugs test.

All questions refer to sworn-in police officers rather than police staff.

The only addition to those figures are two officers tested both negative.
