Please could you advise me as to the latest statistics in relation to the number of people who have been subject to Police bail in your force area.(If available, I would appreciate a separate breakdown on the latest figures in relation to how many of those total people have been subject to conditional police bail)
  2. Please could you provide the latest spend statistics in relation to the number of people who have required the services of interpreters and translators whilst in police custody within your force area? Please could you also provide a list of the most frequently requested languages?

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

Bail:

The data relates to arrests made within the period 01.04.09 - 31.03.10

10,774 people were bailed at least once during the period. *Please note that a person will only appear once within this data, irrespective of how many times they have actually been bailed, even when for different crimes.

i.e. Two separate crimes committed on different dates by the same person who received bail on both occasions equals one count.

2,933 people were bailed at least once during the period, with conditions applied. *Please note that a person will only appear once within this data, irrespective of how many times they have actually been bailed, even when for different crimes.
