Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (Sarah's Law)

  • Reference Number: 2896
  • Date released: 21 January 2011

Request

I refer to your recent request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as set out below:

When the force joined the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (referred to in the media as Sarah’s law). This should include any time involved in any pilots of this scheme

A monthly breakdown of the number of applications about registered child sex offenders to the force under this scheme (please include any time in a pilot).

A monthly breakdown of the number of disclosures about registered child sex offenders by the force under the scheme (please include any time in a pilot).

A monthly breakdown of the number of cases leading to other safeguarding actions

The number of reported attacks on registered child sex offenders since the force joined the scheme/pilot.

*** Rec'd 13/01/2011**** I just wanted to make a clarification to this FOI request as it has been brought to my attention that some of the wording could be interpreted in different ways.

For question 2: “A monthly breakdown of the number of applications about registered child sex offenders to the force under this scheme (please include any time in a pilot).”

I mean the number of applications made relating to the scheme i.e. making applications about whether someone is on the register, not the number of applications about individuals who the police know are registered child sex offenders.
