Response

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

Please note: FOI does not require public authorities to provide explanations or to answer questions. Its primarily to supply copies of recorded information. However in this case I am quite happy to provide answers to your questions where I can. Please be aware however that each police force may have a different methods of use and storage of information. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.

Originator Line: This is a 53-character field to indicate the originator of the enquiry, it is used for every check made on PNC. A minimum of four characters is required. It identifies the person requesting the check, the reason for it and their location are all included.

Source Input document: This is not a document in its own right but fields of data drawn from differing electronic fields. It is completed electronically and partially automatically. The data is electronically transferred to the PNC via an interface.

We are unable to provide 'the document' for the reasons stated above.

Form MG11 This is a witness statement form. This is for recording the evidence of witnesses. It is generally completed by hand and has to be signed and dated by the person making the statement.
