1. Are there clear service protocols in place which distinguish between the crime of street grooming by gangs and rape? [If so, please provide copies of the guidance documents in place].

2. When were the first reports of street grooming by gangs received?

3. How many complaints have been received in total?

4. How many complaints have involved female victims?

5. How many complaints have involved male victims?

May I please specify a time frame for my information request? I would like statistics on street grooming for the period 2000 to 2010.

Response

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

There is no information held - this is not to say that we don't have any of these offences. We do not have a specific Home Office Code for these offences as this would be dealt with as part of normal policing, dealing with the day to day prevention and detection of crime. We would deal with any allegations as part of normal policing and use the relevant code to the specific offence that occurred on the street at the time, for example: Sexual Assault, Rape etc.
