Request
I would like to request information regarding the number of
reports Cheshire Constabulary has received of sexual assaults
against a child, under the age of 18 also including those under the
age of 10, where the reported offender was a child, under the age
of 18 including those under the age of 10, in the last five years,
from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2010, inclusive.
I would like the information broken down by the age of the
reported victim, the age of the reported offender and the date on
which the alleged offence occurred.
Response
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is
provided below;
Please see
Child Victims of Sexual Assault
Please see the comments below from the researcher who compiled
the information:
I have included the reported date, occurred date, age of victim
and age of offender (where known).
I have shown cases involving victims and offenders under 10 - as
well as under 18 - in the table at the top of each page.
I have included all reported incidents where the victim was aged
under 18 at the date of the crime. I have also included incidents
where the victim's age is not available, e.g where the occurrence
date is not recorded, but where the recorded offence indicates the
victim was under 18 when the offence occurred , e.g. 'Sexual
assault of a female child under 13'.
In cases where there was one victim - but more than one offender
- I have highlighted the data in green (these instances are
recorded only once in the victim counts but as many times as they
occur in the offender totals).
In many cases we have no details of the offender - hence there
are quite a high number of instances where the offender's age is
shown as not known
