Dog Section

I currently seek information in relation to your forces dog section or dog unit and would ask that the following questions be answered.

1. How many officers are deployed within the dog section?

2. What are the ranks of those officers?

3. Do the supervisory and management ranks within the dog section i.e. Sgt & Insp currently work dogs i.e. do they have an animal allocated to them for deployment? If so please state the use of the dogs deployed with supervisors i.e. GPD, drugs, firearms detection etc

4. How many dogs are deployed in total within the dog section?

5. What specialisms and how many dogs are deployed to each specialism? i.e. GPD, drugs, firearms detection etc

6. What types i.e. Makes and models of vehicles are used within the section?

In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is provided below;

20 handlers all PC rank
3 full time instructors all PC rank
1 Sgt

3. Sergeants do not have a current working dog
