- Do you as a police force enforce 20mph speed limits?
- If you do, how do you enforce them?
- If you don't, why not?
- How many 20mph "zones" are there in your area?
- How many people have your force given fines for breaking 20mph
speed limits?
- How many people were given a punishment for breaking 20mph
speed limits?
- What punishments were given?
- What is your forces view on the enforcement of 20mph speed
limits?
Response
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is
provided below;
1: Yes
2: Individual officers have a number of technologies available
to them for the enforcement of each and every speed limit'.
3: N/a
4:This information is not held by the Constabulary. The local
authority highways departments will hold information relating to 20
MPH roads and 20 MPH Zones.
For the Cheshire Police area the relevant local authorities
are:
Cheshire West and Chester.
Cheshire East.
Warrington Borough Council.
Halton Borough Council.
5, 6 & 7: It is the function of the Courts to issue fines
and punishment. We can say that we have issued two Fixed Penalty
Notices for exceeding a 20 MPH speed limit
8: This is not a valid request for information under section 8
