I am looking for information on the Child Sex Offender
Disclosure Scheme. Specifically, could you please provide me with
the following details?
1. The number of enquiries regarding the Child Sex Offender
Disclosure Scheme that the forces have received since the scheme
was first introduced.
2. The number of applications under the Child Sex Offender
Disclosure Scheme that the forces have received since the scheme
was first introduced.
3. The number of disclosures about registered child sex
offenders that have been made by the force following enquiries or
applications under the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme since
the scheme was first introduced.
4. The number of referrals that have been made to children’s
social services following enquiries or applications under the Child
Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme since the scheme was first
introduced.
In addition to the above could you also please state the actions
made under the child sex offender disclosure scheme to date? Could
you please provide specific details of?
Number of referrals to children's services
Number of information disclosures and nature of these
disclosures
Number of other actions made and the nature of these actions
The cost of the scheme to your individual police authority in
terms of FTE hours and other resources.
I am a 3rd year law student and I am looking for statistics on
how many disclosures were made by your force under Sarah's law. I
have contacted the Home office but they advised that I would have
to contact all 43 forces to get the stats I require as they are
unable to break them down.
Therefore, I would be grateful if I can have the stats for
Sarah's law disclosures and how many cases were reported through
the normal channels which were not part of the disclosure
scheme.
Response
In accordance with section 1(1) (b) of the Act our response is
provided below;
Please note: Your two request for the same information have been
combined. The answers to the more detailed second request answers
your first request also.
Question 1: 49
Question 2: 20
Question 3: 5
Question 4: The Constabulary does routinely liase with relevant
Children's Social Care Departments on matters relating to child
protection, welfare and domestic abuse where children are involved
etc and as such does not use the formal referral process. The
Constabulary will liase with relevant Children's Social Care
Departments in relation to every application.
- Number of referrals to children's services
- As per 4 above
- Number of information disclosures and nature of these
disclosures
- The Constabulary has made two 'other' disclosures - both
related to 'dangerous people'.
- Number of other actions made and the nature of these
actions
- No information held.
- The cost of the scheme to your individual police authority in
terms of FTE hours and other resources.
The Constabulary does not collate this information. There are a
number of officers and police staff involved in a application,
there is no requirement for officers / staff to record the time
spent on individual enquiries tasks so therefore it would be
impossible to provide any figures.
