Environmental Information Regulations

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 exist to give individuals the right to access environmental information that public authorities hold and requires them to:

  • Progressively make such information available to the public by electronic means which is easily accessible
  • Take reasonable steps to organise the information relevant to its functions with a view to the active and systematic dissemination to the public of the information

The Authority will publish information, as it becomes available, on this web site making it available to download.

If you wish to make a request for information under the Regulations you can do so in the following ways:

Post your request:

Freedom of Information Officer,
Cheshire Constabulary Headquarters,
Clemonds Hey,
Oakmere Road,
Winsford,
Cheshire,
CW7 2UA

Email your request: foi@cheshire.pnn.police.uk

Fax your request: 01606 364133

Telephone: 01606 364176.

The Regulations allow requests to be made in person. The authority will however, seek to confirm verbal requests in writing to ensure accuracy and efficiency. If you wish to make a request in person you should do so at your nearest Police Station for the attention of the Freedom of Information Officer.

It is inadvisable to make verbal requests to patrol officers, the nature of their duties means it is unlikely they will be able to give any sort of priority to such requests.

In general:

  • You should make your request clear and legible, and you should try to be as specific as possible about the information you want.
  • You should provide an address for us to send any documentation or information back to. An email address is acceptable.

Independent advice and guidance is available on the Information Commisioner’s website.
