Policies and procedures for the conduct of Police Force
business
Here you will find current standards of principle providing
guidance to staff in respect of a specific issue or piece of
legislation. Our policies establish the expected organisational
behaviour in line with organisational objectives leading to a
consistent approach to decision making. Our policies set out broad
expectations and are the framework from which procedure flows.
Our policies make use of acronyms that may be unfamiliar to
members of the public. You can find a list under abbreviations.

The Lord Chancellor’s code of practice on the management of
records was issued under Section 46 of the Freedom of Information
Act 200 and Cheshire Constabulary adheres to Part I of this code,
i.e. set out good practice in records management.
Section 46 Codes
of Practice
The Management of Police Information (MoPI)
A statutory code of practice on the management of police
information (MoPI), was introduced in 2005, in direct response to
recommendations of the Bichard enquiry report. It is being
implemented by all police forces in England and Wales. The Cheshire
Constabulary declared compliance with the first phase of MoPI by
the deadline of 31 March 2007.
