The Cheshire Local Resilience Forum is a multi-agency group set
up to prepare for, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) every part of the
United Kingdom was required to establish a Local Resilience Forum –
a multi-agency group covering policing areas who share information
and resources.
Cheshire Resilience is the website for Cheshire LRF which brings
together your local emergency services, National Health Service and
local authorities, plus all other agencies that can help to prepare
and respond in any event.
Our aim is to work together to protect your community.
Emergency planning exercises
Part of our preparation includes regular training exercises
where we bring together all of the agencies in a staged situation.
This allows us to practice co-ordinating our response so that
we can act quickly and effectively should a real emergency
occur.
Cheshire Resilience Training Exercise
Cheshire’s emergency services sprung into action after a series
of chemical devices were deployed in the Golden Square shopping
centre, Warrington on Saturday 13th September 2008.
Police, Fire, and Ambulance services set up a decontamination
unit at Warrington general hospital when people began to arrive
with skin irritation and breathing difficulties.
But this was not a terrorist attack. It was all part of a
Cheshire Resilience training exercise.
The exercise is part of the planning and preparation we
undertake should we experience a terrorist attack using Chemical,
biological, radiological and or nuclear weapons. The chances of
such an attack happening in Cheshire are low. However we can not
afford to be complacent.
The exercise, Operation Golden Knight, was the first of its kind
Cheshire’s emergency services have performed. The aim is to
identify any areas for development and gain an understanding of
each others roles and responsibilities.
Operation Golden Knight was deemed a success. It would not have
been possible without the many members of the public who
volunteered and joined in with great enthusiasm.
Your safety is our top priority and we are constantly working
towards ways of improving our operations.
