Cheshire Police are encouraging all football fans to enjoy
watching the Euro 2012 football competition safely and
responsibly this summer.
The Euro 2012 competition kicks off on 8th June with Poland
versus Greece and runs until Sunday 1st July 2012 with the final in
Kiev, Ukraine.
The Constabulary will deal quickly and firmly
with anyone who causes trouble during the championships.
Alcohol
Many people will see the Euro 2012 tournament as a great time to
celebrate and have a good time, however for some this will mean
they will drink too much and will potentially endanger themselves
and others or get themselves in trouble with the
law.
- Drunken behaviour such as urinating in the street could result
in police action such as a fine or a night in the cells.
- Drinking too much can put you in dangerous situations.
- Drinking too much can make you an easy target for
criminals.
- Know your limits and drink sensibly.
- Don’t drink and drive ever. Leave the car at home, get a lift,
a taxi, or nominate a designated driver – if you are caught drink
driving it could ruin your life.

If you are convicted of drink driving you
will:
- Lose your licence for at least a year.
- Have a criminal record.
- Face up to six months in prison.
- Face a fine of up to £5,000.
- Risk losing your job.
- See your car insurance costs soar once you get your licence
back.
Those are just the things that will affect you directly.
Unfortunately, many drink-drivers kill innocent people as a result
of their actions. If you are convicted of causing death by careless
driving while under the influence of drink you may be given:
If you have been drinking whilst watching the football you may
think that the alcohol is out of your system by the morning but
there is a strong possibility that you could still be over the
limit in the morning. Do not drink and drive
ever.
