PubWatch is a scheme which allows licensees to work together to
keep members of the public safe by banning troublemakers and
discussing problems.
The scheme is supported by Cheshire Constabulary and is in
operation is several town centres across the county, including
Chester, Congleton, Warrington, Ellesmere Port and Crewe.
The aim of the scheme is to improve lines of communication
between licensees to allow information to be passed quickly to
police and other licensed premises.
National police statistics show a significant drop in the number
of violent offences in those pubs where a PubWatch scheme is
operating. Pubwatch schemes also deter troublemakers, reduce
attacks on licensees, staff and customers, improve the information
police have to act upon and improve the working relationship
between police and licensees.
