Rewards and benefits

Cheshire Constabulary is a public sector organisation with stringent budgets set by the government. There are no monetary bonuses but the rewards and benefits available are still numerous.

Flexible working:

All roles are open to job share and part-time applicants, enabling you to take a flexible approach towards work. A large majority of support staff roles also work to a flexi-time system, which enables you to choose your working hours between the core times, and also allows you to bank time to take as leave.

You can take up to two flexi-days per month and extra leave (part-time workers will be pro-rata to number of hours worked).

Annual Leave:

Annual Leave benefits are generous, with all full-time staff provided with the eight bank holidays and 22 days holiday, rising to 27 days and 29 days after 5 and 10 years service respectively.

Final Salary Pension Scheme:

All employees contracted to work for three or more months are enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme, for which you will contribute 5.5% - 7.5% of your earnings.

Continuous Professional Development:

Cheshire Constabulary is keen for all staff to develop and will provide support for essential and non-essential training, with protected learning time provided. All supervisors complete a Core Leadership Development Programme course which is equivalent to an NVQ4 qualification.

Sports and Social Club:

All Cheshire Constabulary staff have an opportunity to join the Sports and Social club which offer a wide range of discounts to places like Chester Zoo, as well as many stations having on-site gyms for you to go for a work-out.

Career Breaks:

Career breaks are available to police officers up to a maximum of five years. Individuals are not required to resign to take a career break.

Welfare:

Welfare Advisors are available to all officers and staff and can provide assistance and support on a range of issues; work related problems, stress, anxiety, depression, personal and domestic difficulties, debt and financial problems, convalescence, trauma support, DSS benefits, bereavement, social and medical matters, counselling both personal and relationship.

Occupational Health:

In order to help to promote the health and wellbeing of the workforce, the Constabulary has a contracted arrangement for occupational health services with an external provider. These services benefit staff in many ways and include pre employment screening, job related screening, support to individual during periods of illness to assist them back into the workplace, general health promotion activities and the facilitation of private medical treatment e.g. medical consultations, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, diagnostic tests and surgery.

There are a number of employee networks available which work in support of the Force's officers and staff. Some of the main ones available are:

This all-inclusive approach and support has led to Cheshire Police being member of the Stonewall top 100 Employees, and supports the Investors in People award.
