Inspector Ian Thorp
I am
Ian Thorp, the Neighbourhood Inspector for the Chester Inner area.
I am responsible for policing in Chester City Centre, Boughton,
Newtown, the College Ward and Sealand Road.
I have been in the police for 24 years and my duties have mainly
been within the Chester and Ellesmere Port areas. I have carried
out a wide range of roles including
CID
, Intelligence and
Incident Management and numerous front line uniform positions.
I have been working for the past six months at HQ representing
the Western Area regarding improving Community confidence. For the
two years prior to this I was the Neighbourhood Police Inspector
for Chester Outer area.
My priorities for the policing of this area are:
- To ensure that the public have confidence in the service we
deliver.
- To ensure that we provide the best possible levels of
visibility of police and community support officer patrols in the
area.
- To listen to, and work with, residents and the business
community to address the issues they identify as important and to
improve their quality of life.
- To work closely with partners and our communities to ensure a
genuine multi agency approach to the delivery of long term
improvements for the communities we serve.

I joined the Cheshire Constabulary in 1999 and spent six years as a uniformed officer. I then spent four years in the Public Protection Unit as a child protection and domestic violence officer. I moved to Chester Inner in May 2009. I'm the beat manager for Greyhound Park.

I am the Police Community Support Officer for the Greyhound and Sealand Road area of Chester. Prior to becoming a PCSO, I served 23 years in the military. I am a keen sportsman and keep myself fit by cycling and playing racquet sports.
