Local priorities
Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012
to 31st May 2012
We conduct our regular Beat Meetings every Wednesday and
Saturday between 10am and 11am at Sainsburys, Neston. We have
set the following priorities.
- Theft from motor vehicles - The public have
expressed concerns about this and have asked local officers to
offer advice and also to provide an increased presence during the
key times the offences are being committed.
How you can let us know what matters to you
You Said, We Did
-
From 01/03/12 to 20/04/12 - Bogus callers
You said: Since the beginning of the year, the public have reported an increase in doorstep crime and bogus callers in the Little Neston area. The public have asked for police attention in these areas in order to target these organisations and individuals and to provide protection for the vulnerable people being targeted.
We did: Local Beat officers PC Lockett, PC Hughes and in particular, PCSO Tudor have worked hard, in conjunction with Trading Standards, local councillors, Cheshire West and Neston Town Council to set up a dedicated "NO COLD CALLING ZONE" in the area affected. This comes into effect on 16th May 2012. This initiative has received widespread support from the community and also from our partner agencies and is already proving to be a major deterrent in the local fight against doorstep crime and bogus callers.

Theft from motor vehicles
You said: There has been an increase in incidents of thefts of personal items from motor vehicles in the wider Neston area. The public have expressed concerns about this and have asked local officers to offer advice and also to provide an increased presence during the key times the offences are being committed.
We did: PC Lockett has worked closely with local Homewatch and the "About My Area" website to encourage members of the public to think about security and crime prevention, particularly ensuring they leave unattended vehicles locked and secure and do not leave valuables on view inside motor vehicles. In addition. local officers, with support from default and Operational Support units, are providing ongoing attention in the areas and at the times identified as being targeted.
