Local priorities
Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012 to
31st May 2012
The following priorities have been set by Sergeant Andrew Miller
having considered the information held on police systems and the
results of various public engagement throughout the month of
November in the Handforth and Colshaw areas. You can influence
these priorities by either: attending one of our public meetings;
stopping and speaking to officers on patrol; calling us on 0845 458
6374 (Voicemail).
- Parking problems - The issue
of parking obstructions has again reared its head especially in the
Bexton Area of Knutsford with more residents and parents
complaining about vehicles being parked inappropriately and
sometimes dangerously. We will be focussing on this issue over the
next month as part of a wider operation and taking robust action
where appropriate.
- Alcohol-related crime - Knutsford
NPU
is now well
under way with its plans to set up a Multi Agency Initiative to
combat alcohol related disorder and underage drinking in the Town
Centre. This initiative is called ArcAngel and will involve all the
licensed premises in the Town Centre. The process will be rolled
out over the next three months and advertised in the local press.
The aim is so promote Knutsford as a safe and welcoming place to
enjoy a night out and reduce the fear of crime.
- Mobile phone theft - There has been a recent
and much publicised spate of mobile phone thefts in various cafes.
pubs and shops around Knutsford and Wilmslow. Those involved are
thought to be from Eastern Europe and Knutsford Police are
targeting those responsible in a variety of ways. Please ensure
that you keep mobile phones and valuables well concealed when
sitting in bars and cafes and report any suspicious incidents to
Cheshire Police on our 101 number.
How you can let us know what matters to you
You Said, We Did
-
From 01/04/2012 to 30/04/2012 - Alcohol related disorder
You said: You were concerned about alcohol related disorder in Knutsford Town Centre.
We did: We are now well underway with the implementation of the ArcAngel safer towns initiative and have met with the Management of almost all of the of the Public Houses in the Town Centre. We have been encouraged by their eagerness to be involved and hope to have the first group of premises certified by the end of May.

Parking issues
You said: You were concerned about vehicles being parked obstructively and sometimes dangerously in the Bexton area of Knutsford mainly at or around Schools and at pick up and drop off times in the week.
We did: PCSO Greg Bithell lead an operation focussing on this matter during April in a bid to educate drivers and take enforcement action where necessary. A number of Officers were involved and a handfull of tickets were issued along with numerous warning notices. The feedback we received whilst doing this operation was extremely encouraging as this is an issue that effects parents and local residents everyday.

Mobile phone thefts
You said: You were concerned about recent reports that there was an increase in reported mobile phone thefts in the centre of Knutsford.
We did: We have treated this as our main priority during April and have had uniformed and plain clothed Officers in the town centre stopping and checking those suspected of being involved. This issue has been prevalent throughout Cheshire recently and those involved have been travelling in from other parts of the country. We have put out numerous press releases asking residents to be vigilant and asking people to keep their mobile phones safely concealed when sat in cafes and bars. As a result we have had some quick arrests and together with our high profile presence in the key areas we have seen this trend reduce dramatically. We would still ask everyone to guard their mobile phones and keep them concealed when sat in cafes and bars and to report anyone seen acting suspiciously to the Police. It is important to note that no violence has been used in any of these offences though and these mobiles have been stolen by distracting the owners only.
