Inspector Jez Taylor

I am Jez Taylor, the Neighbourhood Inspector for the
Macclesfield area. I am responsible for policing in the town of
Macclesfield and the surrounding wards of Bollington and Rainow,
Disley, Poynton, Prestbury, Gawsworth, Henbury and Sutton.
The Macclesfield team consists of Police Officers, Police
Community Support Officers and Special Constables working under the
supervision of a number of Sergeants and myself as the Inspector.
The officers are responsible for undertaking high visibility
patrols across the area and to work closely with the public and
partner agencies ensuring they focus on those issues that affect
the quality of life of local residents. The team is responsible for
tackling the high volume, non emergency crime such as criminal
damage, assault and theft and responding to those calls for service
from the public. This could be a ‘999’ call for emergency
assistance or calls to the non–emergency number. The overall aim of
the team is not only to solve crime and anti-social behaviour, but
to prevent it from happening in the first place.
We are fully intent on continuing the good work and success that
has already been achieved in the area and I want to urge local
residents, local businesses and visitors to the area to work in
partnership with both me and my team as we strive to provide a
visible and accessible local policing service.
How local priorities are agreed in Macclesfield
The Macclesfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit consists of Seven
Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
Every month your team holds several open meetings or surgeries
in your area which are advertised in several ways including on our
website, locally in shops, on Parish Notice Boards.
During these meetings members of the community are invited to
raise local issues with the members of your team present, on
occasions local councillors attend meetings and can answer
questions relating to council matters e.g. emptying of litter bins.
In addition, other issues that can be resolved are taken on board
and either dealt with by the local officer or passed onto partner
agencies if not a policing issue; for example, a highways issue
(e.g. Yellow Lines need replacing) that can be passed to Cheshire
East Council.
The local priorities for the month are decided upon by your
local team, in consultation with Sergeant Mick Warren who carries
out a review of all information held on the Police Systems relating
to your area. In addition, information received in other formats,
such as communication to our Neighbourhood Policing Team email
mailbox or talking to one of your team members on foot patrols is
also taken into consideration before the priorities are decided
on.
The priorities for the coming month are then listed on the
Cheshire Police Web site. We also give an update of what we did to
address the previous priorities. Your local officers also provide
posters and feedback sheets about priorities which are placed on
Parish Notice Boards, Shops etc. or handed out to residents during
our reassurance patrols, in areas affected by the local priority,
in order to communicate this information.
If you require additional information, please contact us and we
can discuss the matter further with you.
