About

The Poynton policing team cover the whole village from Woodford across to Higher Poynton and the boundary with Lyme Park. Within the area is the Industrial Park on London Road South, the five feeder primary schools for Poynton High School & Sixth Form College.

The busy A523 runs through the area bringing traffic from The M60 and South Manchester into the village and on to Macclesfield. To find out more about what's happening in your local area read your monthly update on priorities.

Local Priorities

  • From 31/01/2015 To 28/02/2015-Traffic related matters

Priority Type: We have seen an increase in complaints regarding vehicles parking on residential verges causing damage to the grass and churning up the mud and also causing obstructions to driveways. We have also been approached by members of the public who feel that cars are parking inappropriately at the start and end of the school day and often in contravention of the zig zag markings. Speeding continues to be a local concern in different areas of the town and inconsiderate cycling has also been raised.

Description: Officers will pay particular attention to areas of concern and speak with vehicle owners wherever possible. We will also speak with the local council to see what options are available. Any obstruction can be dealt with on the spot by PCSO or Constable and should be reported at the time. Each school has its own designated PCSO who will act as liaison with staff and also be present at problem times. We will encorporate the SID device and deal with any ticketable speeding offence. Cyclists who disobey the highway code or commit a ticketable offence will be dealt with.
