Inspector Paul Loughlin
am Inspector Paul Loughlin. I have the responsibility for the
Neighbourhood Policing Team in Northwich.
The majority of my policing career has been spent in the CID as
a Detective Constable and Detective Sergeant.
In 2007 I joined the Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Team as a
Sergeant. I later worked on secondment to Vale Royal Borough
Council, leading on tackling anti-social behaviour in Vale
Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Team has well established
working arrangements with our local partners. In particular we work
closely with the multi agency Anti-Social Behaviour unit to address
crime and anti-social behaviour issues across
The Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to encourage members
of the community to tell us what they know about issues in their
areas, to enable us to take pro-active steps to tackle them.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers hold regular meetings
in their beat areas. I would like to encourage people to take these
opportunities to shape how we provide a quality and relevant police
service to the people of Northwich.

Northwich is an attractive market town which stands in the
middle of the Cheshire Plain. For a long time Northwich has been a
centre for the Country's Salt industry. Northwich also boasts the
spectacular Anderton Boat Lift which gives people the chance to
experience what it was like to travel on a Victorian boat lift.
Northwich is primarily residential with a population of
approximately 30,000 people. The are also has very popular Bakers
Frank Roberts & Sons who have been associated with the town
since 1887 and continues to be based in Rudheath on the A556.
From 01/12/2013 To 31/12/2013-Greenbank, Castle and Hartford
Priority Type: To target shed and garage burglaries.
Description: Over the past few weeks there have been an increase in burglaries from outbuildings and garages, particularly in the Greenbank, Castle and Hartford areas of Northwich. Garden power tools, other power tools cycles and fishing equipment are the more popular items being stolen. Officers from Northwich NPT are working hard to identify suspects for these crimes and progressing in bringing offenders to justice.

Priority Type: To tackle inconsiderate cycling.
Description: It has come to our attention that inconsiderate cycling is becoming and increasing problem across all areas of Northwich. The pedestrian areas of Witton Street and High Street are no cycling zones as are the majority of pavements, unless designated as cycle paths. The police have various powers in tackling this behaviour including the right to issue £30 Fixed Penalty Notices which I will be encouraging officers to issue.

Priority Type: To tackle shoplifting.
Description: On the run up to Christmas these type of offences tend to increase. We are working closely with retailers and promote the use of the shoplink radio which is a useful tool in the detection and capture of thieves.
