Inspector Barry Brown

I am Barry Brown, the Inspector for Runcorn, based at Runcorn Police Station. I am responsible for policing all of the Runcorn area, including areas such as Daresbury, Castlefields, Heath, Mersey, Grange, Halton Lea, Beechwood, Halton Brook, Moore and Norton

I have been an operational police officer for over 25 years, working in a variety of uniform and detective roles. I have gained experience from the Chester City Neighbourhood Policing Team, CID and more recently in the role of Central Services Unit in the Western area of Cheshire Police.

I am supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of officers, many of whom have served this community all their policing service. They have developed strong bonds within their area’s which in turn encourages confidence and importantly a trust in the police.

I have highly motivated and committed team of Sergeants, Beat Managers and PCSO’s who take a problem solving approach. By focusing upon the root cause of a problem they try to create longer term solutions which will have a positive impact on people’s lives. They work alongside partner agencies striving to achieve our goal of creating a safer environment for the communities within the Runcorn NPU.

My Beat Managers and PCSO’s are to be a familiar and visible site within your communities, please take time to speak with them; it is only through this interaction that we can truly understand the real issues that are important to you as individuals or community. I want the people of Runcorn to know who I am, who their local officers and PCSOs are and how they can contact us.

My aim is to continue to develop strong links with communities and work closely with partner agencies in order to positively impact upon the quality of life within our area. My intention is to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and to bring offenders to justice. However, policing within your community is not something that can be done by the police alone. The support of local communities is vital in providing information to help us catch and convict those who believe it is acceptable to commit crime with no regard to the victims.

You can do this by either speaking to your local officer or attending the community meetings we put in place in your area.

Contact can be made via the 999 system in cases where emergency assistance is required, the 101 non-emergency number or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
