Local priorities

Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012 to 31st May 2012

  • Anti-social behaviour - To continue to tackle anti-social behaviour around Cabul Close.
Patrols are paying attention to the area during peak times.
  • Drug problems - To continue to tackle the local drug use and dealing which has an effect on the community.
We will do this by gathering intelligence and acting upon this.

How you can let us know what matters to you

You Said, We Did

  • From 01/04/12 to 30/04/12 - Dog fouling

You said: There was dog fouling reported in the Watkin street play area, Oakwood Avenue, Steele Street, St Peters Park.

We did: We have continued liaisons with The Environmental Health Agency and the local wardens, and showed a high visible police presence in designated areas. This has reduced reported incidents significantly during the last 2 months.

  • Anti-social behaviour

You said: There were youngsters gathering and drinking in Brickfields park.

We did: Worked in unison with other partner agencies, and robustly tackled well known "hotspot" areas within the community. We have conducted extra patrols along with a zero tolerance approach to any anti-social behaviour, which has led to alcohol confiscation and advice to perpetrators and culminated in further positive action in the form of arrests for public order offences. The subject of anti-social behaviour which effects all residents is being tackled on a daily basis and the results, albeit slow are starting to be recognised by the improvement in the quality of life and a reduction in incidents

  • Drug dealing

You said: There is drug dealing taking place on Quebec Road and Cabul Close

We did: Another ongoing issue of concern to all residents in all areas, which is being tackled head on by the neighbourhood policing team and other units within the Warrington Division. The Howley and Fairfield areas have been particularly targeted and in conjunction with OPERATION BROADLEY, we have caused major disruption to many cannabis factories, after drug warrants, leading to arrests and convictions for known users and suppliers. A drugs warrant was executed on WINIFRED STREET, by this team and again the occupant was arrested and charged with drug related offences. This followed excellent intelligence and information received from other residents.

  • Anti-social behaviour, Cabul Close and Quebec Road

You said: There has been several reports of youngsters causing personal anti-social behaviour to residents with in the area of Cabul close, Quebec Road and Rylands Drive.

We did: This problem area has been tackled head on also, with great assistance from Housing, residents themselves, local officers and Cheshire Police Force Solicitors, who have all contributed to 2 Anti-Social Behaviour Order applications being submitted this week to the courts, for two well known trouble makers who have disrupted many peoples lives on this estate for the last 3-4 years, as leaders of a gang culture within the CABUL and QUEBEC area. A successful application in court on the 26th April 2012 should lead to the dissipation of this gang and again a vast improvement in life quality for local residents. PCSO's to give the area a high visible presence and to take details of anyone causing anti-social behaviour. A PCSO has arranged to speak to a known offender regarding the problems/issues involving the communal bins.

  • Traffic issues

You said: Vehicles speeding in the area at prime times, for example at the start and end of school times, which also includes parking issues.

We did: Representative from WBC Highways Department has informed that 20mph speed limits in residential areas are to be set up soon which can be enforced by the police. PCSO's are a visible deterent at prime times, especially at school starting and finishing times.
