Inspector Kate Tomlinson

I am Kate Tomlinson the Neighbourhood Inspector for Warrington East based at Risley Police Station. My policing responsibilities cover the communities of Birchwood, Padgate, Woolston, Rixton, Glazebrook, Glazebury, Culcheth, Croft and Fearnhead.

I have been a police officer for 16 years and have worked in a variety of roles across the county, all of which have involved front line policing. I have worked from Risley Police Station as a Constable early on in my career, as a Sergeant briefly and now as an Inspector so I have experience of the community and knowledge of the problems faced by its residents every day. I have an investigative background and have worked as a detective at all ranks, including roles within the Major Investigation Team. I spent nearly 2 years working as the Staff Officer to the Chief Constable with my most recent role as a Response Inspector covering Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn.

My predecessor has done some excellent work in Warrington East building effective relationships with our partners and seeing overall crime levels fall. My intention is to continue to drive crime levels down and work with our partners for the benefit of the whole community. Recent changes to the way we police have meant that response officers are being integrated into the neighbourhood policing teams thus giving them a greater understanding of local issues and placing them in a better position to solve problems from the outset. Risley will have 5 teams of police officers and community support officers each headed up by a sergeant. In support of this we will have 3 beat managers.

The communities play such an important role in neighbourhood policing by providing the police with information and affecting police priorities. You are an integral part in the success of policing at a local level and I would encourage you to tell the police officers and PCSOs about issues concerning you. You can do this by either speaking to your local officer or attending the meetings we put in place in your area.
