Burtonwood and Winwick are located in the north part of the
town, the former having a mix of housing types whilst the latter is
predominantly private, as is Westbrook. The latter area has a large
retail complex area where Ikea, Marks and Spencer and others are
situated. Burtonwood and Winwick have significant areas of
agricultural land. During WWII Burtonwood was the site of RAF base
with American forces personnel based there. There is a RAF Heritage
Centre based within Gulliver's World at Westbrook.
