Inspector Ian Whiley
I am Ian Whiley the neighbourhood inspector for Widnes. I
joined Cheshire Police in 1997 and have worked in a variety of
roles throughout my career, all of which have been in front line
policing. Prior to taking on this role I have spent the last two
years as a response Inspector covering Warrington, Widnes and
Runcorn and am now delighted to be working in such a challenging
role. I am looking forward to continuing to develop strong links
with the community and partner agencies in order to make a positive
impact within the area.
My priorities for Widnes are to reduce crime, anti-social
behaviour and deal effectively with night time economy issues. My
aim is for the majority of the community to know who I am, who
their local officers are and how to contact us. The communities
play such an important role in neighbourhood policing, by providing
the police with information and effecting police priorities. You
are an integral part in the success of policing at a local level
and I would encourage you to tell the police officers and
PCSOs
about issues concerning you. You can do this by either speaking to
your local officer or attending the meetings we put in place in
your area.
I will ensure all the police officers and police community
support officers are aware that a high profile police presence is
important. They will make a point of being seen and getting to know
as many people in the local community as possible. They know that
as well as keeping people safe they need to make sure people feel
safe.
If anyone wishes to speak with me about issues that affect you
in the Widnes area then please give me a call on 01606 61 3731.
