Local priorities

Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012 to 31st May 2012

The following priorities have been set by Sergeant Andrew Miller having considered the information held on police systems and the results of various public engagements in the Handforth and Colshaw areas. You can influence these priorities by either: attending one of our public meetings; stopping and speaking to officers on patrol; calling us on 0845 458 6374 (Voicemail).

  • Mini motos - To continue to monitor, prevent and prosecute those responsible for the illegal and anti-social use of Mini Motorbikes and Quad Bikes in public open spaces.
  • Anti-social behaviour -  To monitor and patrol The Paddock and Meriton Road Park in Handforth after concerns have been raised by local residents concerning youngsters causing anti-social behaviour and a recent spate of graffiti.
  • Thefts of York stone - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that York Stone Thefts are on the increase again and some are not being reported to the Police. We will be focussing on this issue over the next few months specifically from a crime prevention perspective as the such stone is very difficult to identify and return to the original owner once stolen and recovered. We would ask the Community to inform the Police if they see anyone removing York Stone slabs from a driveway or garden immediately, especially if that Property is temporarily unoccupied.
  • Speeding - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that there is great concern over motorists speeding on Moor Lane, Styal Road and Hollin Lane in Wilmslow as well as other main roads. As such we will be utilising the Speed Indication Devcice in these locations over the coming months to measure the speeds and decide on a suitable course of action for these areas.
  • Parking problems - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that there are great concerns over illegal and obstructive parking in numerous locations around Wilmslow but specifically on Chapel Lane, Hill Top Avenue and around Local Schools at pick up and drop off times. We will focus on these areas over the next 3 months in a bid to educate drivers and take enforcement action where necessary.

How you can let us know what matters to you

You Said, We Did

  • From 01/04/2012 to 30/04/2012 - Anti-social behaviour

You said: You were concerned about youngsters causing anti-social behaviour around The Paddock in Handforth.

We did: We have patrolled this are regulary over the last month and have seen a reduction in incidents to just 3 in April. These have not been linked in anyway. There has been an increase in grafitti in the area however so we would ask local residents to report anyone suspected of spraypainting walls to contact police immediately.
