Local priorities

Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012 to 31st May 2012

The following priorities have been set by Sergeant Andy Miller having considered the information held on police systems and the results of various public engagement throughout the month of November in the Wilmslow South area. You can influence these priorities by attending one of our public meetings, speaking to officers on patrol or by calling us on 0845 458 6374 (Voicemail):

  • Anti-social behaviour - Anti-social behaviour incidents are still being reported in the area around Wilmslow Leisure Centre and the Rectory Fields area of Wilmslow involving local youths. This problem has been going on for a while so we will be focussing on this area and any youngsters found acting in an anti-social manner will be dealt with robustly.
  • Mini Motos - To continue to monitor, prevent and prosecute those responsible for the illegal and anti-social use of Mini Motorbikes and Quad Bikes in public open spaces.
  • Alcohol-related crime - To work with the Licensed Premises in Wilmslow to set up the ArcAngel protected town initiative to combat alcohol-related disorder and underage drinking in the Town Centre. This project is now well underway and a vast Majority of the Pubs and Clubs in Wilmslow are involved.
  • Thefts of York stone - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that York Stone Thefts are on the increase again and some are not being reported to the Police. We will be focussing on this issue over the next few months specifically from a crime prevention perspective as the such stone is very difficult to identify and return to the original owner once stolen and recovered. We would ask the Community to inform the Police if they see anyone removing York Stone slabs from a driveway or garden immediately, especially if that Property is temporarily unoccupied.
  • Speeding - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that there is great concern over motorists speeding on Moor Lane, Styal Road and Hollin Lane in Wilmslow as well as other main roads. As such we will be utilising the Speed Indication Devcice in these locations over the coming months to measure the speeds and decide on a suitable course of action for these areas.
  • Parking problems - A recent Community Focus Group has highlighted that there are great concerns over illegal and obstructive parking in numerous locations around Wilmslow but specifically on Chapel Lane, Hill Top Avenue and around Local Schools at pick up and drop off times. We will focus on these areas over the next 3 months in a bid to educate drivers and take enforcement action where necessary.

How you can let us know what matters to you

You Said, We Did

  • From 01/04/2012 to 30/04/2012 - Anti-social behaviour

You said: You were concerned about youngsters drinking alcohol and causing damage around the back of Wilmslow Leisure Centre and the Rectory Fields in Wilmslow.

We did: We have had numerous meetings with Cheshire East Council and the Management of the Leisure Centre and have been working together to address this issue. We have been patrolling the area more often and have seen the number of incidents this month drop to the lowest level in months. This is encouraging and we will continue to work with our partners to address this matter.

  • Alcohol-related crime

You said: You were concerned about alcohol related disorder in Wilmslow Town Centre.

We did: We are now well underway with the implementation of the ArcAngel Safer Towns initiative and have met with the Management of most of the of the Public Houses in the Town Centre. We have been encouraged by their eagerness to be involved and hope to have the first group of premises certified by the end of May.
