Local priorities
Local priorities set for the period of 1st May 2012 to
31st May 2012
Local priorities agreed following the community forum
meeting.
- Parking issues - We have received a number of
Parking and speeding complaints on Queensway. This will be tackled
with public awareness and enforcement.
- Anti-social behaviour - To tackle
anti-social behaviour and traffic offences related to vehicles on
the Marina Carpark Wharton were young adults are driving to the
area along the bypass then parking up on the carpark causing a
disturbance to residents.
- Crime Stoppers awareness- We will be
carrying out a Crime Stoppers awareness initiative on the Crook
Lane Estate to make the community aware of Crime Stoppers and the
the support it gives to the Police.
How you can let us know what matters to you
You Said, We Did
-
From 01/04/12 to 30/04/12 - Anti-social behaviour
You said: We have had continued complaints from residents regarding the anti-social use of mini motors.
We did: During the past month these incidents have dramatically reduced as a result of our intervention.
We have highlighted the problems in the local community to make people aware. We have issued 7 warning letters to individuals who have these bikes and have been suspected of using them in the community. One bike has been seized. We have also linked up with the local housing trust who will support tenancy action if tenants are found committing offences or anti-social behaviour with these machines. I would urge the community to call the police or the council if they are aware of people using these illegally in the area so we can take positive action.

Street robberies
You said: Last month we had six incidents of street robbery and so one of our priorities will be to tackle this type of criminality.
We did: A number of arrests have been made in connection with the incidents. We have had only one offence this month, where a 16-year-old had their mobile phone stolen. Two men have been arrested for this offence and bailed pending further enquires.
