Sandbach Town
brings on board more premises this week with the innovative
ArcAngel Protected Town scheme. The initiative
brings together public agencies and the local community to work
together to influence the environment in the town where alcohol is
sold and drunk.
The ArcAngel scheme provides a joined up approach to tackling
problems associated with alcohol and the influence alcohol has on
peoples behaviour. Moving forward as one community is important to
the success of adopting ArcAngel standards in the town. Making sure
everyone in the town knows what is expected of them and what
penalties they will face, if the fall below the agreed standards,
is critical to the schemes aim of improving the quality of life for
everyone in the town.
The first set of premises achieving the required standards were
awarded ArcAngel status earlier in the month followed by six
additional pubs and bars . Earlier this week the third set of
awards were handed out to additional premises that have stepped up
to the mark.
The Sandpiper, Black Bear, Symphony Bar and Grill, The
Glasshouse, Swan and Chequers and Godfrey C Williams &
Son are the latest businesses to become a part of the
Protected Town scheme.
In achieving the award premises have to demonstrate a they have
standards in place depending on the type of premises.
Anyone who chooses to drink or buy alcohol in these
establishments knows they can expect a certain standard which may
include asking people to confirm they are of the right age to
purchase alcohol or refusing to serve people whose behaviour is not
acceptable.
Congleton Inspector Mark Gammage said:
It is fantastic that so many of premises in the town are
adopting the ArcAngel scheme and it sets an example to those not on
board.
“It not only benefits the community but the businesses
themselves and the fact it will soon become the second Protected
Town is a positive accolade.
Inspector Mark Gammage - Congleton Neighbourhood
