Cheshire Police have launched an investigation after two
boys were approached by a man who
offered them a lift in his car.
This incident comes just days after a ten year old girl was
approached in similar circumstances in the nearby village of Acton
Bridge on the afternoon of Sunday 15th May.
At around 7.45pm on Thursday 18th May, police
were called when two boys were cycling along Russet Road in
Weaverham when a man pulled up in a car and offered them a
lift. The boys refused and returned home where the incident was
then reported to police.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Price said
We are following up a number of positive lines of enquiry to
trace the man responsible for approaching children in these
circumstances. Fortunately, the children involved in both incidents
have not come to any harm, however we are very concerned about the
behaviour of this individual.

Inspector Paul Loughlin of Northwich
Neighbourhood Policing Team said
We would urge parents and teachers to reiterate safety messages
to their children and report any suspicious behaviour to police,
particularly during the school holidays when children are generally
out and about and away from home more often.
Although incidents such as this are very rare, we understand
that local residents are concerned and we are doing all we can to
reassure families, and schoolchildren that we are doing all we can
to ensure the safety of our communities. We have increased our
patrols in the area and urge anyone who has concerns or questions
regarding this investigation, to contact staff at the Northwich
Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0845 458 0000.
