A man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit an armed robbery that took place in Ellesmere Port over a year ago.

Two men were imprisoned last year after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery following an armed raid at the Shell petrol station in Station Road, Ellesmere Port on November 5th 2010 when two security guards were robbed of almost £20,000. Police conducted a widespread appeal for the whereabouts of a third man believed to be involved in the incident.

The 47-year-old man was arrested by Merseyside Police at an address in Anfield, Liverpool yesterday. He will be interviewed by detectives in Cheshire later today.
