Two young men have been arrested following an
assault in Widnes.
The 19-year-old and the 17-year-old were arrested on Friday (6th
January) in Widnes.
The 19-year-old was subsequently
charged with section 18 assault and possession of
a bladed article in a public place.
He was remanded into custody and appeared at Warrington
Magistrates' Court on Saturday (7 January) where he was further
remanded into custody to appear before court again on 30 January.
The 17-year-old was bailed pending further enquiries.
The incident took place on the path outside the Mersey
Hotel in Mersey Road on Christmas Eve. The victim - a
27-year-old man - received a single stab wound to his abdomen and
was treated in hospital for his injuries.
