SID gives police inside information on speeding motorists

Police in Broken Cross are using SID to tackle speeding on one of the area’s roads.

The Speed Indication Device ( SID ) was placed on Victoria Road in Macclesfield for a month to record data on speeding in the area.

The device, which records how many cars went above the speed limit in that period has shown speeding is a problem on the road.

PCSO Gary Barnes said:

As a result of the information we gathered we will be focussing on Victoria Road in terms of patrolling the area and using the speed gun to catch those breaking the speed limit.

Patrols will be in the area at various times over the next few months.

Another issue the Broken Cross Neighbourhood Policing Team is focussing on is anti-social behaviour on the Upton Priory Estate.

The problem usually occurs on the estate, near the shops on Westmoorland Close in the evenings between 6pm and 10pm.

To combat this, local PCSO Gary Barnes has been working with housing landlords such as Peaks & Plains as well as the council.

PCSO Barnes is also speaking with the young people and their parents and agreeing acceptable behaviour contracts.

The number of incidents reported in recent weeks has already reduced. However one person continues to be a problem and further action is being considered against them.
